Coolquill A.C.:
Last Sunday the 12th running of the John Joe Barry 5k road race was
held in the Commons on a perfect evening for all the athletes. As our club was once again responsible
for the organising of the event another fine effort was called upon. Well done to all the prize winners in
all the different categories of which there were many. A special thank you to all the athletes
who supported the race on the night.
We also very much appreciate the big effort the ladies put on for the
refreshments after the race. To
those people who also helped in a big way with the marshalling of the course,
donated spot prizes and sorted out the finishing area, a very big thank you.
Regarding our club runners, we had a great
display from Ross Alexander when he pushed the eventual winner all the way for
a brilliant second place in 16.42, Tadhg Vaughan ran well also with a time of
19.06. Andrew Galloway in 21.14
and Martin Ivors running well in 21.34.
We are now into the month of May which is a
very busy time with races in the county starting this Sunday with the open 10k
road race in Clonmel
