First to report on
this week is at the European Masters Championship in Ghent, Belgium, where Matt
Alexander was competing in the 3000m indoors, where in the second heat of two,
there were fourteen competitors and he ran a super race to record a personal best
time and finish fifth across the line.
Unfortunately, he just missed out on making the final, but it still was
a great achievement. Then on
Saturday, he lined up for the 5k cross country event and in a highly
competitive field, with some of the best in Europe taking place, he finished a
very creditable 18th in a very fast run race.
On Sunday 20th,
the County Novice B road championships were held in Moyne, on a very good course. We had six men lining up at the start
of the 6k event.
It was a very keenly contested affair with John Russell leading home the
lads in 8th and was closely followed all the way by Cian Cronin in 9th
and Donal Horgan in 10th.
These three boys took the silver team medals. Having a good run in 13th came Dermot Logue with
Alan Pearson in 24th and Jack Alexander in 26th. Great running from
all the lads. Also on
Sunday, Martin Ivors took part in the Clonmel Duathlon and completed the course
in good style.
This Sunday 27th
the Munster Masters road is being held in Ballyneale at 1pm and the following
Sunday, the County Intermediate is held in Dundrum also at 1pm.
