Sincere Sympathy is extended to the family of Mary Claire OÕ Brien (nee Grant) (Ballingarry, Thurles, Co. Tipperary) who passed away on November 18th, 2011.  Mary Claire; is deeply regretted by her loving husband Se‡n, daughters Karen and Jennifer, son-in-law Rob, grandchildren Chloe, Ava and Ellie, brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Rest in Peace. Reposing was at her residence on the Monday from 4 o'clock with Rosary at 9 o'clock. Removal took place on Tuesday morning to the Church of the Assumption, Ballingarry at 10.45 o'clock for Requiem Mass at 11.30. Burial was in the Old Churchyard Cemetery immediately afterwards. May she rest in Peace. 

 

Sincere Sympathy is extended to the family of Sarah (Cissy) Maher (nee McGrath)  (Bailey House Nursing Home, Killenaule, formerly Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary & Copper, Ballingarry) on November  21st,  2011, predeceased by her husband Denis; deeply regretted by her loving sister Alice, brother Jimmy, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and many friends. Rest in peace. Reposing was at O'Connell's Funeral Home, Killenaule, on Tuesday evening from 5 o'clock to 7.15 o'clock to the Church of the Assumption, Ballingarry, at 8 o'clock. Funeral Mass was on Wednesday at 11.30. Burial took place immediately afterwards in Two-Mile-Borris Cemetery. May she rest in Peace.

 

Thurles Vigil
A Three Hour Vigil in Honour of our Lady of the Miraculous medal will be held in the Pallotine

College Chapel, Thurles on Monday November 28th, 2011. It will commence at 8.00p.m. and will consist

of a Eucharist Hour, Marion Hour and Holy Mass.
Enrolment of the Miraculous medal will take place during the Marion Hour. Fr Joe Walsh will conduct the Marion Hour.

Holy Water

We have purchased a new Holy Water Barrel. It has a tap to make it easy to fill your water bottles.  It is placed in the side porch (Church Lane Side).  You can get to it from the main body of the Church anytime the Church is open.  Please bring your own bottle. Holy Water renews the grace of our Baptism.

The deadline has now passed for any future submissions to the 2011 Ballingarry Parish Journal, the journal will soon be sent through to print and as always we look forward to it hitting the shops and streets around Ballingarry.

This years Sale of Work will take place on Sunday 27th November at 2pm, Ballingarry Community Centre.

Free Mulled Wine and Hot Chocolate with mince pies for the first 100 people.

Visit to Santa for Û5 per child, which includes photo and present.

Old School House The Commons

Showing of the Mining Archives DVD will take place in the school on Thursday, Dec. 1st at 8pm.

All are welcome to attend.

Weekly events

Card games, 25's and 31's, take place in the Old School every Friday night from 8 - 11pm. Admission Û2 and refreshments are served.
Step dancing classes cost Û3 and are given on Friday evenings from 5 - 6.30pm and all children are welcome.
Guitar classes for beginners and advanced

players are given on Friday evenings from 5 - 6.30pm and these classes cost Û7 per person.

Slieveardagh C.I.T.E

Preparation for Work & Customer care workshop; this is for employed/unemployed professionals.
It will prepare participants for future employment, preparing CV and interview preparation. Also, customer care focuses on customer service and working in direct customer contact.

Millennium Family Resource Centre

Will be having a bag pack in Dunnes Stores in Thurles on Thursday & Friday the 15th & 16th December. It would be greatly appreciated if people could spare a couple of hours to help raise as much money as possible for the centre. If you can help please contact Pauline on 052 9157 992.

Christmas Flower Demonstration by Enda Thompson Phelan will be held in the Anner Hotel, Thurles on Tuesday 29th November at 8.15pm. Û12 entrance fee, non members welcome.

 

Flu vaccine now available in Health Centre by appointment with practice nurse.  The HSE recommends Flu vaccine for all those over 65 years as well as all pregnant women and for younger people with chronic illnesses.  It is also recommended for people with close regular contact with pigs or poultry."  

 

Urlingford Library – open Tues 10 – 8, Wed 10 – 5, Thurs 10 – 5, Fri 10 – 1, Sat 10 – 1.30, closed Sun and Monday.  Knitting group starts Sept 1st 10 – 12pm.  DVDs & Magazines available to borrow also.

Anyone interested in including news regarding sport updates, achievements, graduations, christenings, weddings, obituaries etc for inclusion on the weekly website newsletter can do so by emailing ballingarryparishjournal@gmail.com by 9pm on a Friday evening.  Photographs can also be emailed.  The website is a great means of keeping people far and wide from the parish updated on the weekly happenings and it would be great to include more weekly events.  Don't forget to check out the Ballingarry website, some of the articles from the 1996 & 1997 Journal are now updated online. www.ballingarry.net.  The links for each townland in Ballingarry is now linked through on the 1901 & 1911 Census.  Hopefully making it easier for those all looking to find their family ties during that time.  The link is under the Genealogy section on the left-hand side of the homepage of the website.  Hopefully these links will be of great benefit to people.

Will hold recycling drive to raise funds for camogie club. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes bed linen, towels, and textiles including shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. Please drop items at Parish Hall between 11am and 1pm on Saturday 3 December.

Cross Country Trails
Last Sunday, the Munster Masters cross country was held in Patrickswell, Co Limerick. Donal Horgan had a super run, when coming 13th over the line and fourth county man. The team combined very well to collect the silver medals. Matt Alexander also travelled and had another very good run to be fourth O/55 and be an important member on the O/50 county team that also won medals. This weekend Matt is representing his country at the Home Nations cross country being staged in Glasgow and we all wish him the very best.

 

GET IN SHAPE FOR CHRISTMAS!!!!
Fab Fitness classes back after mid-term break on Monday 7th Nov and every Mon and Wed morning in Mullinahone community hall, 9.30.
Also Ballingarry Community hall on Thurs evenings 8-9pm.  These are fun circuit training classes, using lightweights for ultimate toning, aerobic exercises for overall aerobic fitness and help with weight loss, followed by body conditioning and stretches.
These classes are suitable for all levels of fitness as each works within there own range, so come along have fun get fit and even make a few new friends.
