Beyond Slieveardagh, Tourist Attractions:

Slievenamon:

Slievenamon, (Irish Sliabh na mBan), one of Ireland's most written about mountains is just a 10 minute drive from Ballingarry. It stands at 721 m (2,365 ft). Slievenamon is a striking conical mass, offering dramatic view from the summit over the counties of Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford.

The mountain is steeped in Irish legend. The mountain is said to have got its name from the ancient fairy women or Feimhin, who enchanted the warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill and his followers. Another legend tells how Fionn decided to choose his bride from a group of women racing to the top to meet him sitting at the top of Slievenamon. Since Fionn and a girl called Gráinne were in love, he showed her a short-cut and she duly won the race.

The Rock of Cashel

The Rock of Cashel is one of Ireland's crown jewels when it comes to tourist attractions. A spectacular group of Medieval buildings set on an outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale including the 12th century round tower, High Cross and Romanesque Chapel, 13th century Gothic cathedral, 15th century Castle and the restored Hall of the Vicars Choral.

Kilkenny Castle

Kilkenny Castle is the hearth of the Medieval City of Kilkenny. The Castle is 12th century, remodelled in Victorian times, and set in extensive parklands which was the principal seat of the Butler family, Marquesses and Dukes of Ormonde.
