HISTORICAL PEOPLE OF BALLINGARRY

Peggy Mc Garry

(Thank you)

Peggy Photographed with her late husband Johnie

PEGGY McGARRY retired from her duties of looking after the Shop in the Parish Hall at the end of October 2001 having completed 29 years of loyal and dedicated service.

Peggy started working in the shop in June 1972. She had major surgery this year but now she is fit and well again and back playing her favourite game of bingo on Tuesday nights.

There were many changes in activites in the Hall over those years. Dances and concerts were very popular in the early years, next came the discos in the late eighties and early nineties, and now bingo and whist-drives are still as popular to-day as in the earlier years.

With her late husband Johnnie they looked after the care-taking duties for many years, always having the Hall in splendid shape for the many functions held there. Peggy was always very pleasant, willing to share a joke and a smile. She made many friends among the teenage population attending discos. She still gets cards from many of them.

We say thank you for your long and faithful service to the community and we wish you well in your retirement and know you will still enjoy your visits to the Hall.

Peggy celebrated her 80th. birthday in April 2002
