ABOUT

Ballingarry (Thurles) Community Development CLG is a locally based community service. We have been in operation since 2002. The Company was formed when the former parish community council disbanded in 2002. The company is committed to enhancing the wellbeing and quality of life for all members in our community. We promote social inclusion through community activities and provide key economic development by increasing employment opportunities locally.

The main office and childcare facility are located in Ballingarry Enterprise centre, adjacent to the village of Ballingarry in the Slieveardagh area of South Tipperary. The service covers a geographical area of Ballingarry parish and surrounding areas.

We have an I.T/Training centre, full day care service (Brightsparks Childcare) we sponsor a Community Employment scheme, we administer the Community Senior Alert Alarms scheme. These programmes are part funded by POBAL through a Community Services programme and the Department of Social Protection. In total the company employs 13 staff in our service, 16 people on the Community Employment Scheme and we have 2 TUS workers.

Our most significant development was in 2009 when we were successful in a capital application under NCIP for €750,000.00 and we built a purpose-built state of the art childcare facility. The childcare centre caters for children from the age of 2months to 5 years of age. We are open 49 weeks of the year from 8am – 6pm. Many of our service users travel from various parts of the Slieveardagh area as we are the only service to provide full day care childcare services.
